Improve Merge reliability on Samsung Galaxy Watch

Two quick changes make a noticeable difference in how reliably Merge runs on Samsung Galaxy Watch: removing Merge from the watch's sleeping apps list, and keeping the Merge iPhone app in your recent apps instead of swiping it away.

Remove Merge from sleeping apps on the watch

Samsung Galaxy Watch uses a sleeping apps list to restrict background activity from apps it considers inactive. When Merge ends up on this list, the watch throttles it - and notification delivery slows down or becomes inconsistent. Removing Merge from the list keeps it available for active background communication.

  1. Open Settings on your Galaxy Watch.
  2. Tap Battery and device care.
  3. Tap Battery.
  4. Open Sleeping apps.
  5. Long press Merge.
  6. Tap Remove from list.

Keep Merge in recent apps on your iPhone

On iPhone, Merge needs to stay running in the background to maintain its Bluetooth connection to the watch. If you swipe Merge away from the recent apps list, iOS terminates the app process and the connection drops until you reopen it manually.

Leave Merge in your recent apps - don't swipe it away. When Merge is running in the background, it holds the Bluetooth link to the watch and notifications keep flowing. This is the single most common reason the connection drops and doesn't come back on its own.
